چکیده

The XY model with quenched random disorder is studied numerically at T 1⁄4 0 by a defect scaling method as a model of a disordered superconductor. In 3D we find that, in the absence of screening, a vortex glass phase exists at low T for large disorder in 3D with stiffness exponent h þ0:31 and with finite screening and in 2D this phase does not exist. For weak disorder, a superconducting phase exists which we identify as a Bragg glass. In the presence of screened vortex– vortex interactions, the vortex glass does not exist but the Bragg glass does. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Localization in non-Hermitian quantum mechanics and flux-line pinning in superconductors ⋆

A recent development in studies of random non-Hermitian quantum systems is reviewed. Delocalization was found to occur under a sufficiently large constant imaginary vector potential even in one and two dimensions. The phenomenon has a physical realization as flux-line depinning in type-II superconductors. Relations between the delocalization transition and the complex energy spectrum of the non...

Quasiparticle localization in disordered d-wave superconductors

An extensive numerical study is reported on the disorder effect in two-dimensional d-wave superconductors with random impurities in the unitary limit. It is found that a sharp resonant peak shows up in the density of states at zero energy and correspondingly the finite-size spin conductance is strongly enhanced which results in a nonuniversal feature in one-parameter scaling. However, all quasi...

Π ` a la node: disordered d-wave superconductors in two dimensions for the random masses We review work on the problem of disorder in the 2D d-wave superconducting state, and show that the symmetries of the normal state and the disorder distribution are vital for understanding the low-energy behavior. Most previous theoretical results for the density of states (DOS) are reconciled by a combinat...

Melting and structure of the vortex solid in strongly anisotropic layered superconductors with random columnar pins

We study the melting transition of the low-temperature vortex solid in strongly anisotropic layered superconductors with a concentration of random columnar pinning centers small enough so that the areal density of the pins is much less than that of the vortex lines. Both the external magnetic field and the columnar pins are assumed to be oriented perpendicular to the layers. Our method, involvi...

Spectral Curves of Non - Hermitean Hamiltonians

Recent analytical and numerical work have shown that the spectrum of the random non-hermitean Hamiltonian on a ring which models the physics of vortex line pinning in superconductors is one dimensional. In the maximally nonhermitean limit, we give a simple “one-line” proof of this feature. We then study the spectral curves for various distributions of the random site energies. We find that a cr...
